  1. This fort is situated on the side of the county road at Straide, a short distance from the school. It can be seen from the school door. It is round in shape with a few white thorns growing on its side.
    It is said that this fort was made in the time of Danes by an old chieftain who was very great friends with the monks. Here he watched the countryside for enemies and hid the monks.
    Some years ago a hole in one side led into a long narrow passage. This passage was never used as a means of getting to the inside chamber as the people were afraid to go far in. Now it is closed by earth and trees.
