  1. It was customary to hold a wedding in the bride's house on the night before the marriage. This wedding was attended by the old people of the district. The bridegroom was also present. The feast nearly always consisted of potatoes boiled, boiled bacon and cabbage and a barrel of porter with a bottle or two of whiskey. Sometimes a bottle of wine and a box of currant farthing biscuits was provided for the ladies.
