    not enough money to get the match was broken. In some cases the bride got cattle, "a cow or two" a feather bed and a chest of bed-clothes, sheets homespun, blankets made with the old spinning wheel and bleached and dyed with moss. if the fortune was fixed up the first night, the second night the match was sat on the bride was brought and introduced to the bridegroom and the date of the marriage decided. This matter being of minor importance was left entirely in the hands of the bride and groom.
