because he often heard the people talking about them. He made up his mind to catch her and to get the net. He crept slowly up behind the rock and caught her and he got the net from her. He brought the mermaid home with him and he married her and they had a family.
The mermaid used to be always looking for the net until she would go but she never found it. One day her husband was making a stack of turf and the children were with him and they saw him hiding something in the middle of the stack of turf. They ran home and told their mother that their father hid something in the stack of turf and their mother ran to the stack and got the net. She went into the lake immediately and the people never saw her afterwards.
