A woman borrowed her neighbour's boots, stockings, shawl or dress, to attend the funeral of a friend. Flannel was worn by women. Flannel dress, flannel petticoat, they wore two flannel shawls. One shawl covering the head, an outer and darker coloured shawl, over the shoulders and clasped on the bosom with a large pin.
