My Mother _ thou with more than human power
Did'st guide me in my childhood's sunny hour
    And boyhood's bloom,
'Till I, from thee, and home, and friends did go
Unto the world - to drink the cup of woe,
    Alas, too soon!
And I have drunk the cup e'en to dispair,
But in my darkest hour I saw you there
    Beside the road
Where you did say good-by, to me in tears.
That vision fair has helped me through the
    Years to bear my load.
