  1. Weddings were accompanied by a "granice" in Drumgoon district, till about six years ago, when the police put a stop to the custom. The boys taking part in the granice were called "straw boys" as they were completely covered with straw. The came to the groom's house on the wedding night and demanded drink. They all tried to dance the bride and usually behaved themselves quite well.
