Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There are two forges in the parish of Lavey. One of them is situated along the Dublin road in the townland of Aughadreena. The other is situated along the Bailieborough road at Lavey Strand.
The owners of these forges are called smiths. Smiths by name and smiths by trade.
Both of their ancestors were blacksmiths. They shoe horses and asses in the forge. They shoe vehicles in the open air. They point harrow pins and lay coulters of ploughs. These are the principle jobs they can do.
They cannot weld metals. The metals and other articles wanting repairs are sent to corrie's foundry at Bailieborough where they are repaired by electricity.
The tools the local blacksmith does the work with, are a "hammer", A "sledge", an "anvil, a "bellows', a "rasp", a "punch", a "chisel", a "pincers", nails, a "tongs",
