- 'Tops'. 'tops' were made by dressing to a point a spool and putting a stick in it.
'Lamps'. 'lamps' were made by filling a bottle with oil and making a little tube of tin, for holding the wick.
'Heads' 'Heads' were made by cutting two holes in a turnip for the eyes, an oval shaped hole for the nose and a long hole for the mouth.
'Tun-dishes' were made by knocking the bottom out of a cocoa box, cutting it down the middle and narrowing it in at one end.
'Horns' were made by knocking the bottom out of a castor-oil bottle and blowing into it.
'Pop-guns' were made by pushing the soft stuff out of an elder-branch, putting a cork in the end of it and pushing it out with a rod.
