- There are two fairy forts in our district. 'Cullivan's Fort' and 'Smith's Fort'. Drumkirk is the townland in which 'cullivan's' Fort' is situated and Behey is the townland in which "Smith's Fort' is situated.
They are within view of one another. They are circular in shape with a fence of earth round each and whins growing in each one.
It is said that there used to be a lot of fairies on each one at night. The old people used to make colcannan and leave two spoons with it and it would be gone in the morning also a mug of spring water was left and it would be empty in the morning.
The owners of the land did not interfere with them except to rear hay on them. There used to be a lot of music heard on them, and the old people used to say it was the music of fifes. This music was last heard about forty years ago.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
