  1. Local Place-names
    We have a farm at home. There are twenty acres of land in it. There are eight large fields in it (namely) namly the "lageen", the "Grass-seed field", the field behind the hour", "the hill field", the "Ruadhann", "Garrnta", "Garrdha Cam" and the "whin field."
    The "Lageen" is so called because there is a hollow in it. The "Grass-seed field", because there was grass-seed sown in it one time. The "field behind the house", is so called because it is behind the house, the "hill field" because there is a hill in it. The "Ruadhann" because it was moorland at one time. Now we grow potatoes in it. "Garrdha Cam" is called because it is a crooked field. The "whin field" is so called because there were whins in it.
