  1. A very good cure for a cold is; get a good-sized onion, and put it on some red-hot coals by the fire. Leave it there for a while, until it is dark brown and quiet soft. Then lift it up on a fork or otherwise you may urn your fingers. Peal off the outside skin, and eat it while still hot. If you like you can use some salt, because it makes it more palatable, and it puts a good wholesome taste on it. For my own part I certainly like salt on the onion don in the way i have before said, for your cold, to you, and mark my words your cold will disappear.
