  1. Here is a cure for a cold, get the tops of young nettles and wash them in boiling water, and boil them in a clean pot. Leave them to boil for an hour, then lift them and strain the juice in a bowl, Put an egg cup of glauber salt, a spoonful of barroway seeds, and a half glass of whisky in the juice, and take a cup of this syrup every night going to bed, and your cold will be better.
