- In olden times the people had not the sweet food they have today. For their breakfast each morning they had yellow meal stirabout and a wooden mug of buttermilk, with which they were well satisfied.
In those days if they had a spare sixpence they did not spend it on a leg of beef, it went on the real wants of the house. The people were well pleased to have their fill of potatoes and buttermilk for dinner every day.
