Wind-Signs.
The west and south winds generally bring rain to our district, and the north wind brings snow or frost. The east wind brings diseases of different kinds from the countries in the east.
Old beliefs
In my district some of the old beliefs about the weather are; if it rains on the first twelve days after Christmas it will rain the twelve months of the year. Another belief is; if it rains on St Swithin's day or on the fair of Bunlahy it will rain for forty days and forty nights.
