In July and August when new potatoes came the three meals consisted of potatoes. After Christmas when the oats was thrashed and the oaten meal made the food was changed to porridge. Butter-milk was put in a noggin and the porridge was put in the noggin with horn-spoons. Then it was eaten. Butter milk was also taken with potatoes. A table scoured white was placed a long the wall but the people did not sit round it when eating. Round a basket called a "lussit" they sat. Some of the tables were made in such a way that they could be folded up against the wall. I saw one about four years ago in Mat Morgans Drumavady.
Sometimes oaten bread was made and potato bread and "boxty" was eaten on Hallow-Eve night. The way the boxty was made was. The potatoes were well washed and peeled. They were grated and squeezed and flour was mixed with it. Then(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
