    The Fear-Gorta was a feeling of great weakness and hunger suddenly taken at certain places when going a journey.
    Several people took the Fear-Gorta at the "Hollies" half way up Largain brae. The person who took the Fear-Gorta had sometimes to lie down and rest, or sometimes he made his way to the nearest house and asked a bit of oaten-bread.
    Some people carried a piece of oaten bread on a journey afraid of the Fear-Gorta.
    N.B. A traveller is supposed to take the "Fear Gorta" at the spot where a person or persons died from the famine.
