- Long ago there were Landlords out, but nowadays there are no landlords out. The local landlord in my locality was Mr Gregg. He was not a bad landlord because he divided the land equally among the people. He gave everyone the same amount.
There were some evictions in the locality. There was a man in Colum named William Mulvihill. He was taken out of his bed, and put out by the road-side. His house was knocked down.
There was another man in Colum named Steel, he was also put out of his house, and his house was knocked down, shortly after that he went to Dublin, he was not long there until he died. His wife and family are alive yet in America. The ruins of his houses are to be seen yet in the townland of Colum. There are old ruins of William Mulvihills house to be seen yet in it also.- Collector
