  1. In my townland there is a fort called "Kelly's Fort". It is owned by a man named Milchal Kelly. Once upon a time a woman and her only son lived near this fort. One day the boy was ploughing in the field opposite the fort. When the woman went out to call him to his dinner there was nothing there but the horses on the headland. She searched everywhere for him and she employed men to search for him but to no avail.
    There used a little man come to this woman every morning and every evening. He was a very funny little man both in his ways and looks. But you know the people of long ago used not wonder at the like of this little man.
    One evening when he came in the woman was crying bitterly. He asked her what was wrong with her and she told him about her son having been taken away. He said he did not know what must have happened to him, and he said he would have a search for him. The woman did not see a sight of the little man for six months afterwards.
    At last one evening the woman looked out and here was the little red man coming. She was delighted because she knew he would have some
