clothes-brushes. The names of the travellers who visit the district most frequently are the O'Learys, the Donoghues, the Powers, and the Joyces. They erect tents in the Green or on the sides of the road a short distance from the village. They sleep at night in these tents. Some of them have caravans in which they live. They go from house to house in the daytime begging for alms. They get bread and money from the people.
They usually come here at Christmas and sell Mottoes and holy pictures. They usually buy these good in Dublin or in some large town and though people could buy their wares cheaper in the shops they take them from these people out of charity
