- The people have a custom on Shrove Tuesday night. They make pan-cakes and fry bacon on that night. They do that, as it is an old custom on the eve of the lenten fast. They fast from bacon, for the seven weeks of lent after that.
The pan-cakes are made very thin on a pan. Late on that night, the people eat the pan-cakes, and tea, and bacon.
- Long ago, the people used to wear green ribbons on St Patrick's day, when going to Mass.They used to wear green and gold crosses, with the harp in the centre.Other people used to wear green sashes on the right shoulder, and a bow on the left shoulder with the picture of a shamrock either in gold or white on it.A good share of men when they came home from Mass would go(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
