they heard the ghost saying, "Ha ha, ye devils. I am here before you. I am not confined to any particular part of this house."
One day, a servant was preparing fish for dinner. She laid it on the kitchen table for a while, and when she returned, it had disappeared. She was troubled when the fish was gone, when suddenly she heard the voice of Corney saying, "There, you blundering fool is you fish for you," and at that the fish was thrown out in the middle of the floor.
Corney used to answer whenever the people of the house would call him. One day, they brought in a priest to the house, and they began to call Corney, but he would not answer while the priest was there. The servants asked him why he did not speak, and he said, "The Great God would not permit me to speak when that good man was in the house, because I was a very bad man, and I died the death.
