Hallowe'en falls on the thirty first of October. On that night it is said that the pookies be out destroying every fruit that is not pulled. A great many tricks are played on that night I must describe some of them.
Young people that would be on the look out of a partner would select a certain lime-kiln and go there at twelve oclock at night. They would bring with them a ball of yarn. They would hold one end of the thread in their hand and they would throw the ball into the lime-kiln and they would start to wind the ball up out of the kiln.
