- There was a hurling in Kildangan about thirty years ago. The teams that played were Youghal, and Nenagh. There were fifteen men on each side. The match was played in Miss McGraths field. It is known as the "cross field". It is a long field but not wide. It was a parish match. The Nenagh team won by eight points. The score was Nenagh fourteen points and Youghal six points.
Long ago the ball was often hurled from townland to townland. The two teams met half way on the road from one parish to another. Whoever got the ball to their own parish first won. The players were usually dressed in their own clothes.
The ball that was used was a big heavy shoe-leather. Goal post were not used. The goal was marked from ditch to ditch.
The hurley used was the same shape as the hurleys now used but they were much heavier.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
