- In Killavoy Banteer there was a school in 1820 and the following pupils attended:-
Owen Riordan, Killavoy and his four brothers.
Dan Lehane, Killavoy

Patrick and Mick O'Connor Teencoora
John Tom O'Connor, Tancoora
Pat Buckley, Tancora
Denis and Charles O'Connor, Tancoora
ohn O'Connor who was nicknamed Seán and Béasla and whose son afterwatds became High Sheriff of late in 1920-21
The Subjects taught were Arithmetic, Reading, Writing, Grammar and Geography. Irish was not taught there. The pupils had to pay a fee of 1/0 per week and support the schoolmasters in turn. He stayed a week in each scholar's house.
Stone seats and deskes were used and there was a large flat stone for a table. This "table stone" is still in Killcuroy in the field where the school was
The school day, started at 10 a.m. and closed at 4 p.m. The children got no holidays except the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
