“When she was a child they had a workman named Tim Sexton...”
[o William Shorten, Shinagh, Dunmanway - 60 -)

When she was a child they had a workman named Tim Sexton. He was a poet, (in Irish), and he could neither read nor write. He was a good workman but he was always composing and singing and he kept the other men idle listening to him. One time he wanted to marry a Coughlan girl, but her people wouldnt allow the match. He composed a song, and here is some of it -
