   [o William Shorten, Shinagh, Dunmanway - 60 -) I heard my grandmother tell this. She was Bridget OBrien from Carraig near Clonakilty (m. Curley ODonovan Báid) She died about 40 years ago or more, and was then up to 90.] When she was a child they had a workman named Tim Sexton. He was a poet, (in Irish), and he could neither read nor write. He was a good workman but he was always composing and singing and he kept the other men idle listening to him. One time he wanted to marry a Coughlan girl, but her people wouldnt allow the match. He composed a song, and here is some of it - "Is mó óig bhean ar mhéolas go táscmhar Ó bhórd Cionn tSáile go Léim Do gheobhainn-se le pósadh 'gus fáilte A's mór-chuid le n áireamh den spré Ach ní thógfainn go deo uatha [?] offer ?* Ó leonadh ann á siúd ... liúm héin As is dóigh liom go nólfad gan spleádhcas Istig idtig an tábhairne go shéimh, ~ m ... cailín no faid-phíbh báine Arbh ainm di Cáit mo gcuach mbuí ~"
