    was their bed and near it was a coop for the hens. There was also a fire place on which they cooked their meals. They were very poor and they both worked for the neighbours. In the cabin was a small door and to enable the hens to come in and out every day to lay when Maire was out working and to prevent the eggs of being stolen she put a small hole in the front of the door, for the hens to come in and out. One day when she came home she found the fox inside before her killing the hens. She went in and shut the door so that the fox could not escape. The fox soon thought of a plan. There was a fire of "brosna" down on the hearth. He took a lighting stick out of
