  1. Once there lived in Castlemaine a landlord by the name of Bateman. He evicted several tenants amongst whom was a man named Burke. Burke lived in Fibought and he died broken hearted soon afterwards. One day Bateman went to the mountain shooting and whom should he meet on his way but Burke who was dead for some time. Bateman came home and said "Burke killed me." He went to bed and died.
