  1. About forty years ago there lived a tradesman in a certain street in Tralee. He was sober and industrious and promised to be a great success. He got married when he was about thirty years, and lived very happily with his wife for some time. but unfortunately he fell into bad company, and practised to drink.
    From a very happy home his turned out to be a very unhappy one. At first he only spent half his wages on drink but as time went on he grew gradually worse and very seldom came home to his poor tormented wife before eleven or twelve o'clock at night, and what was worse he would sit near the fire, and would rave away, and his poor wife should remain out of bed to prevent him from toppling into the fire. This continued for some time
