Two brothers were herds on a mountain One brother used to say "I be afraid always when I go out alone to look at the cattle & sheep." The other brother could not understand this & at last got tired listening to it & said "I'll never quit till I find out what makes the people afraid." So one fine day he set off to find out & said he would never return till he had found out. He travelled on & when night fell he called at this house & got lodgings there. In the course of conversation he told the man of the house his errand. "You have not very far now to go," said the man. "No one crosses yonder bridge after nightfall but is beaten & battered."
