   Attention pay both young and old,
   To those few lines I will unfold,
   For to describe though not full well,
   The dance that Dudley Gallaher held,
   The pit in which he did commence,
   Was furnished off with great expense,
   Of chisled stone completely walled,
   Both paved and gravelled, arched spalled,
   They flung six hands and hands across,
   Four hands round a country dance,
   And for the ladies I declare,
   The lads could not to them compare,
   For living smart, hardy and well blooded,
   Hasty, jovial and light-footed,
   They wore, indeed it was no less,
   A splendid, handsome, summer dress,
   Which did consist of scarves and ties,
   Collars, nets and frills besides,
   Rusties and necklaces too,
   Bunty jackets and listing shoes
   Polky sleeves and stumager fronts
   Mitered skirts and wooly cuffs,
   Some had their necks I cant say shaved
