Long ago it was said by the people that if they saw a crane flying against the wind, it was a sign of rain.
It was said in this locality if the crickets sang very loudly in the hob it was an omen of storm.
My Mother says that it is a sign of hard weather to see the wind coming from the north on the 1st November.
When the crows fly low home to their nests it is a sign of rain and when they fly home high it is a sign of good weather.
The people of the district say that there will be storm when they see blue blazes in the fire.
When the robin sits on the top of a tree, singing joyfully, in the morning, it is a sign that the day will be good. If she sits far down in a tree and does not sing at all, it is an omen that the day will be bad.
Other people say that the day will not be so good when the sun shines out too early in the morning.
If there is a bright circle around the moon at night it is a sign of bad weather.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
