  1. The old people say that there are dogs in the form of fairies. Long ago there were lads going stealing apples. When they were coming near the garden a big dog appeared before them. They stood and looked at him but he went down into the ground but the lad did not go to the apples. Another night a man was coming from Mr Bellow. It was about twelve o'c in the night. When he was this side of New Bridge he saw a big dog lying on the road before him and fire was flying out off his mouth.
