    be lucky to throw out any sort of water between sunrise and sunset.
    Pat Cannon Toome made shoes up to recently. He is now a very old man so he has stopped making shoes but he still mends. It is said that he was a very good maker of shoes. There are several men in the district who can repair rough every day boots but when there is neat work wanted the shoes have to be taken to the shoemaker in Glenties or Dungloe. I believe there is quite a good shoemaker in Dungloe. All shop shoes and boots that are worn in the district now.
    The wooden soled shoes were quite common in this district some years ago. Pat Cannon used to make them. No they aren’t to be seen now-a-days. I cannot find anyone who says that there was leather tanned here.
    The children come to school bare-footed during the summer months. Indeed there are a great many bare-footed a good part of the winter too. The rubber shoes are greatly worn by the children. It is quite a usual thing to see women on the bare feet here doing their households duties but I haven’t seen them barefooted going
