  1. Long ago they used light candles for christmas, and they do this all the time. The 26th of December on St. Stephen's Day they used catch a wren in a bush and carry him around gathering pennys. On New Year's morning they used go around wishing the people "A happy new year." And they keep the custom here all the time. On St. Martin's night they kill foul and keep blood and put the sign of cross on our foreheads with the blood. If you dipped a bit of wool in the blood it would
