  1. The food they had long ago was very different to the food we have now. They had no tea that time. They lived on potatoes. In the morning they used to work for an hour before the breakfast. Then they would have potatoes and skimmed milk for breakfast, and the same for dinner; and they had stampy made of potatoes, or a potato cake. Some times they had gruel for supper, which was made of yellow meal. They were stronger than they are now, and better able
