  1. Long ago there was no creameries and they used to make butter in churns. The churn is done away with now. It was about eighteen inches in width.
    There was a long wooded stick for making the butter. It was shaped like a tank. They use to carry boxes of butter up on their heads to sell it. Others used to make cheese of what they had spared of the butter milk. They used then to carry a "ferkin" of butter to the market to sell. There was a lot of superstition about churning
