  1. There is a well not far from this parish which was said to be haunted. One night as they were chatting in a certain house, someone asked if any one would know why it was supposed to be haunted. There was an old man and he said he knew about it. Once, he said, a man lived who had a great desire for cards, and he used to be out every night playing them. His wife said that she would give him a fright, so this night he was coming home at the dead hour
