  1. There is a lot of old poetry made by local men that was neve written in books. There was once a man in jail, and one day he asked the warder for a drink of water, and he did not get it; and this is the song he composed about it.
    "I axed the warder for a drink of water, I thought the drough[?] it would pierse my heart. "The devil a drop, said he you will get until morning; "Damn you eyes," said he the night is short"
