    To the north-west of Ballyheigue there is a well close to the Shannon, called Glendahillon Well and there is an old story told about it. It is said there was a convent there and there were nuns living in it. Sea robbers came in and abused the nuns and were going to kill them but the nuns prayed to God for help, and the robbers were struck blind. Then the nuns took pity on them again and they said to the robbers that if they would leave them
