    out of the book and then we read it one by one. He starts at the bad reasers and then he asks a few of the excellent readers and by that time the half hour is well up. The next half hour is writing a letter or sometimes composition. On the day we are writing a letten the master helps us to compose it and then we write it into our copies. The letter consists of a few pages written to a friend, or a cousin, a sister, or a brother. Then we start catechism and when the catechism is over we go ot to play.
    We play a lot of games out in the yard such as "London bridge is all broken down, the "Ghost in the corner," and old woman going to the market to buy."
