  1. Messages frequently take place in this district during Shrove. The months thought unlucky to get married in are, May, August and December. When people get married it is the custom to give money as dowry and sometimes stock is given. Some marriages take place quietly without any feast but generally there is a wedding feast held in the house of the bride.
    "Straw boys" visiting the house where a wedding feast is held is not a custom in this district.
    "A hauling home" takes place a month after the wedding.
