- Fifty years ago lime burning was very common in Ireland. Several farmer's had kilns erected on their lands. They used the lime when burned for the improvement of their land.
There is an old lime kiln on the lands of Richard Bourke Rossbog and other farmer's with old lime kilns on their lands are Frank Cussen and Dan Walsh of Rossbog. There were other lime kilns used for burning lime for sale. One of these lime kilns was in Ballinlard and anouter in Drumline.- Collector
