  1. In the penal times a man called Mapa lived near Moynalty. He was a protestant and an English officer. It happened that he was pasing round by the old chapel of Rantavan one Sunday morning and he discovered that Mass was going on inside. At that time people caught at Mass were put to death. Mapa set the chapel on fire and burned the priest and every thing that was inside except one man whose name was Carnen. Carnen saw Mapa and took the sword from him and fought him to try to kill him, but Mapa ran away. Then Carnen
