  1. There is an old ruin in Fermoyle. About 100 years ago people who were descended from Cromwell and whose names were Whites lived in it. They had one child and a monkey. There was a races in the Turlough one time, and the father and mother went to to and left the money in care of the child.
When they were gone to the races the monkey brought the child to the top of the chimney to see the races. When they were coming down from the chimney the monkey let the child fall and she was killed. They shot the monkey, the child used to appear. The father and mother went out of their mind. The father shot himself and the mother hanged herself. Sometimes late at night a charoit is seen driving up and down the road.
