village of Moyvore called the Mill River. Quite a lot of fishing is done in it. People frequently get trout in it.
The name most common in the district is Mahon. The name Moyvore is supposed to mean "The big plain" Mágh-Mór, because the district is situated in a very large plain. There are approximately one hundred people in the townland of Moyvore. None of the old people can talk Irish, but several of them tell stories in English. There is one old woman of nearly ninety years of age living in the cottage beside the school. She doe not know Irish either.
