  1. The Clouna Conal Gulbans.
    A big football match was played in October 1888.for the championship of Clare between the Conal Gulbans of Clouna (so called after the invincible Conal Gulbans granfather of St Colum Cille and the Commercials of New Market on Fergus at Tulla.Clouna won the match and the prize was a silver cup which was presented by the parish priest of Clouna and Ennistymon to be left at Clouna church this cup is still there and bears the inscription G.A.A 1888 Clouna Conal Gulban team .
    The names of the team are as follows.
