  1. It is said that there is gold hidden under a stone in Cahermicateer and there was an attempt made to find it by a man name Mc Carthy, who stayed inside from Mass that Sunday. While the people were at Mass, he was walking out around the place, and he saw gold on this rock, and a voice said to him three times in Irish, "Take it now, now is your chance". He went and told his wife about it, and when he came again, he did not see the gold. People said that if he threw a fist of earth on it he had got it.
