  1. There are not many wild birds in the district. There is the Pheasant, Woodcock, Grouse and the Partridge. Wild duck and Wild Geese come to this district in the harvest. If they come early in the year it is a sign of bad weather. The Cuckoo and the Swallow migrate every year. The cuckoo builds no nest. She lays her eggs in the nest of some other birds. The swallow builds her nest in a haybarn. The Pheasant builds her nest in the heather.
